Trump Calls Families of Attacked National Guard Members to the Presidential Residence

President Donald Trump stated on the weekend that he has invited the family of a National Guard member killed last week to visit the White House.

He noted that he conversed with her family and they were “devastated”.

Details on the Tragic Shooting

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a shooting on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her comrade, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Vigils across West Virginia have occurred in their remembrance.

Presidential Call

The commander-in-chief explained he’s proposed a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both soldiers of the state Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor her,” the president addressed journalists. “And in the same way with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Community Support

Attendees gathered over the past few days at Webster County high school in West Virginia to honor Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been serving with the military unit as part of Trump’s national effort to assist law enforcement in the capital.

Honoring the Soldier

“She was the kind of student that educators desired. She behaved with calm resilience, a warm expression and a positive energy that lifted those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of her previous school, informed the Associated Press. “She was sweet, caring and always willing to help others.”

Funeral details for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.

Legal Actions and Policy Changes

Law enforcement have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with a charge of first-degree murder and charges of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The event led the Trump administration to halt asylum applications and halt granting entry permits to holders of travel documents.

Status of the Airman

Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, started his military career in 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, according to the Associated Press.

He remains under medical supervision and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s leader Morrisey said on television.

Attorney general Bondi stated on Fox News Sunday that she planned to speak to the family.

Memory of Sarah Beckstrom

Sarah, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County High in mid-2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a law enforcement officer with distinction, according to the state guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had bravery,” he informed the crowd at the service. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has created a legacy that’s going to endure.”
