The British tennis star earned the most important win of his career by coming back from a set down to beat top-ranked player Carlos Alcaraz 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the second round of the prestigious indoor tournament.

While he had before overcome Alcaraz on two occasions, this triumph represents Norrie's initial win over a current world No 1.

"Coming back from a physical setback last year, I was defeated in the opening stage of qualifying rounds here. I just aimed to appreciate my game in the closing months of the year. The British player, ranked 31st globally, also halted Alcaraz's impressive streak of nine straight final appearances and 17 consecutive premier event wins, which was the finest stretch of results in the Spaniard's developing career.
