Iran Claims Strike on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Counterattacks.

Plumes of black smoke were seen rising near an area close to the central command of the American Fifth Fleet.

Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes across the region in retaliation for a significant and continuing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone in the area of the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any impact is uncertain and the American officials has not commented.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - said they have intercepted missiles in their air space.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.

Additional Developments

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the UAE stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with notable success and shot down a several projectiles," it added.

Officials reported wreckage fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
