Week six of the 2025 NFL season
Real-time updates features live text of the weekend matchups via multiple platforms, starting with the Broncos-Jets clash at Tottenham (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Additionally, audio coverage is available through designated networks for a separate game (beginning at 9 PM BST).
It's week six in the football calendar , after recent talk regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as possible championship contenders, they both surrendered their perfect starts.
Notable during those contests were the amount of penalties both conceded. Philadelphia committed them in key moments meaning they essentially beat themselves having led 17-3 entering the fourth period versus the Denver Broncos, set to play overseas this weekend.
But it proved good to see that Denver quarterback Bo Nix was able to have the shortfall before direct three scoring drives in three attempts during the final period, securing the victory 21-17.
Denver boast the defensive player of the year with CB Pat Surtain II. They rank first in goal-line defense, while the Eagles are number one in red zone offence, and the Broncos won that battle.
They executed effective strategies regarding disguised blitzes. They did not always rushing more than four pass rushers instead they could plug two linebackers in the 'A' gap before drop them out and dispatch a nickel from the outside.
At the start in the campaign, it was noted during a show that the Broncos might emerge as this season's dark horses. They ended last season well then excelled of building upon that.
Could Denver be this year's underdog story?
New TE their tight end has excelled significantly and recent running back JK Dobbins is a guy the team trusts. He's currently fifth league-wide for rushing yards (402) and tied for fourth for rushing touchdowns (4).
I love how head coach the Broncos' leader has "RUSH!" at the top of his playcall sheet.
This demonstrates how Denver are a team aiming to prioritize the run, since one can achieve much based on that approach. It reduces down the pass rush and maintains in positive down and distances.
This has helped quarterback the young passer, who came into the league as the 12th overall draft pick in the prior draft, throwing 29 TDs – second only to a star QB for the rookie record (31 back in 2020).
Other elite QBs possess the arm strength to throw anywhere, but they don't move the mobility as Nix. He boasts incredible arm talent, a unique trait, plus he is highly agile.
His strengths include his mobility, the capacity to pass while moving, as well as finding varied release points to make the pass as he moves out of the pocket, the bootlegs. He can deliver that layered pass across the middle or past defenders.
As a rookie QB, aged 25, he displays a lot of composure under pressure and isn't bothered by the blitz. He aims to evade being tackled as much as possible and can throw under pressure. He possesses a high football IQ and remains very decisive.
When you constantly run the ball it eats up the clock and forces the defence to stay in play extended periods, and when you have a mobile QB the defence has to defend the field downfield side to side. It can be draining.
Nix has bitten back at Payton on the sideline at times and I think Payton appreciates that attitude, that he's such a competitor. I think it's exciting for him to have a young quarterback who's kind of like moldable clay. The coach can really develop him how he wants to build it. I believe it's a unique opportunity for him.
Payton owns a championship and now surpassed a legend in all-time victories (173 - tied 14th overall). He has witnessed everything. In my opinion the success Denver are having on offence is mostly due to his guidance, his play-calling, his game sense – and the combination with the QB helps shape him what he is.
There's no better a more qualified person guiding you, to help you through some of the tougher situations and build self-belief.
I have faith in Denver's defence, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. But is the team strong enough to go against an elite team at full strength? Since that was not a Super Bowl performance from Philadelphia last Sunday.
Currently, I don't think Denver are elite. They're working better than most, that's a good place to hold their division. The key is to continue this trajectory.
They excel at leaning into their forte, that is running the ball, and that's exactly what they should do against the Jets at Tottenham. It's going to be a Dobbins-focused game, in essence.
The Jets have surrendered 140 rushing yards per game (among the worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (10th worst), and they are the sole squad without a win a game.
Ever since the league began tracking turnovers in 1933, this team are also the first team to go without a single takeaway through five games, which is surprising considering that their new coach Aaron Glenn defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.
The Chiefs' QB stated Kansas City are off to a poor start after a recent loss to Jacksonville.
After the upcoming matchup, Denver have a manageable slate up to their bye (in week twelve) - the Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans and Las Vegas Raiders before the Kansas City Chiefs.
In the AFC West, the Chiefs are 2-3 while Denver are even with the Chargers at 3-2 meaning they could challenge for the top of the West.
It depends on which form Kansas City shows up they meet because the Broncos {beat|def
