Former Doctor Accused of Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Patients

Legal authorities have announced that a ex- doctor now faces charges for performing sexual assaults involving 38 victims who were patients.

The Grave Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

One senior prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Police Inquiry

These allegations come after what police called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

Spencer is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

The charging documents outline the 45 sexual offences comprise:

  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
