Fall Classic Game 7 Draws 51 Million Audience Members In the United States, Canadian and Japan Regions.

The thrilling 11-inning matchup where the Dodgers beat the Blue Jays 5-4 attracted a aggregate over 50 million viewers in the United States, Canada, and Japan territories. MLB reported this is the highest-rated Fall Classic Game 7 since the 1991 showdown featuring the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Breakdown

Last Saturday’s epic contest drew 27.33M audience members on Fox channels, Fox Deportes and their streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the week.

It also is the top-rated World Series matchup after the 2017 edition final game involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew over 29 million. This marks a 16% improvement over the previous Game 7 between the Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19 million.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game placed fourth, Game 4 ranked seventh, Game 5 was 8th, and Game 3 finished in thirteenth place.

International Viewership Numbers

In the Canadian market, the climactic game averaged 11.6 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports channel. This made it the most-watched English-language broadcast in Canada after the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final game started at 9 PM in the local time zone, it averaged 12 million viewers. This came after the previous Friday’s Game 6 – where World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed one run in six frames – averaged 13.1M viewers, making it the most-watched World Series game on a single network in the country.

Overall Totals and Patterns

The full seven-game series averaged 15.71 million viewers on Fox, a two percent rise from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This represents the first time since 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has seen audience increases for two straight years.

Counting the opening game broadcast on the Univision network, the complete American average was 16.1 million. The overall World Series average in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The complete playoffs on Fox and its sister channels recorded over 8 million watchers, an eight percent increase over last year and Fox’s best postseason performance since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball announced that the World Series was broadcast in 203 nations and regions by 44 media partners in sixteen different languages.
